You will be picked up in the Adelaide CBD by your Murray River Trails driver in the morning of your tour. Sit back, relax and enjoy the journey as you're transferred to Renmark, located in the heart of the Riverland.

Arrive at 1pm meet your guides in the Nanya Function Space at the Hotel Renmark. Your guides will provide a brief introduction to the Murray River before you board our pontoon cruiser and begin a 25km cruise upstream through old growth redgum forests and red ochre-coloured cliffs that flank the river. You’ll be welcomed to your ecohouseboat accommodation for a short refresh before setting off on a cultural walk (1-2km) through river country. The evening is spent on the houseboat admiring the cliff colours at sunset from the top deck or in the spa before your guides prepare a dinner paired with local wines to complete the day. 

Rise before dawn to the melody of birdsong and take a leisurely walk up a gentle slope to the rim of the Murray River valley. Here, you'll witness a breathtaking sunrise as the vibrant colours of the river landscape awaken, and catch glimpses of Rainbow Bee Eaters darting through the air in search of insects. After breakfast, join your canoe guide for a serene paddle through tranquil creeks and billabongs, framed by towering red gums. As you glide silently along the water, you'll pause occasionally to drift and take in the natural surroundings—a perfect chance to spot a goanna basking on a tree or the dazzling flash of a sacred kingfisher. Returning to your houseboat, set off on a two-hour cruise upstream to the serene Chowilla Creek. Sit back and take in the river views as your guides prepare a delicious lunch. In the afternoon, stretch your legs with a guided walk through the rich forests and wetlands of your new destination. Keep your ears tuned for the distinctive calls of Regent Parrots as they dart through the trees. After a rewarding day of adventure and discovery, settle in for an early night, ending the day with a meal showcasing local flavours.

After an early breakfast, embark on a fascinating driving tour through the vast ephemeral lake system on the outer floodplain. This is a birdwatcher’s paradise, where you can witness migratory waders that have flown from the northern hemisphere, along with flocks of ducks, pied stilts, red-necked avocets, spoonbills, and musk ducks. Along the way, keep your eyes peeled for vibrant blue-bonnet parrots, emus with their chicks, and the striking red kangaroos that roam the landscape. Returning to the houseboat, you'll find it moored at a picturesque new spot, nestled opposite the awe-inspiring Bunyip Reach Cliffs, just above Lock 6.

After breakfast, enjoy an optional stroll along the riverbank before embarking on a relaxed cruise downstream. Along the way, experience the unique passage through Lock 6 as we make our way to the final mooring. To mark the end of this unforgettable journey, we’ll gather on the top deck for a celebratory BBQ lunch, soaking in the last views of the river. Bid farewell to the Murray River and return to Hotel Renmark by 2pm, closing out a memorable adventure.

After completing your Safari with Murray River Trails, you’ll be met by your driver for a comfortable transfer back to Adelaide. Tours conclude at 14:00, and you’ll depart from Renmark shortly after. You can expect to arrive in the Adelaide CBD or at the airport by approximately 17:30, depending on traffic conditions. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the journey after your rewarding time on the trail.
